David Hunt
David is an accomplished musician with a lifelong passion for music, beginning his journey at just 5 years old with piano lessons. He achieved a Grade 8 certification from the Australian Music Examinations Board (AMEB) and later pursued Classical Performance Piano at the Newcastle Conservatorium of Music.
Since 2001, David has been an active figure in the Australian music industry and has been a key member of Sarah Blasko’s band since 2006. As both a guitarist and pianist, he has toured extensively both in Australia and internationally, gracing stages in the USA, Europe, New Zealand, and South Africa, with notable performances at iconic venues like The Sydney Opera House and Enmore Theatre.
David has participated in major Australian music festivals such as Splendour in the Grass and Falls Festival, and has supported renowned artists like Sting and Paul Simon. His television and radio appearances include ABC News, Sunrise on Channel 7, and Triple J’s Like A Version.
A contributor to the creative process, David has co-written on Sarah Blasko’s albums, "Eternal Return" and "Depth of Field," with the former winning the ARIA for Best Adult Contemporary Album in 2016. He also lent his talents to the soundtrack of the 2015 film "Ruben Guthrie" and a production of Bell Shakespeare’s "Hamlet."
With over 26 years of teaching experience, David offers private lessons and works with The Music Bus company, where he was honored as Teacher of the Year in 2018. His teaching style is relaxed and fun, focused on fostering students’ musical skills and enthusiasm at all levels, from young children to adults.
